About Damien Marks and Yilpi Marks
Damien and Yilpi Marks are artists from the Northern Territory and Damien moved to Papunya with his family where he was taught to draw and then paint dreamtime stories. The many famous Aboriginal artists that influenced his work today included Clifford Possum and Billy Stockman. Damian is now a respected artist and a very talented and highly sought after Aboriginal artist.
Yilpi, who is married to Marks was born in Ernabela and her grandparents and her parents taught her how to paint Dreamtime stories. Both her parents were famous artists with works featured in the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Damien Marks and Yilpi Mark's paintings break new ground in contemporary Aboriginal art while maintaining a deep connection to country and dreamtime stories. The designs are rich in story telling handed down from some of the most iconic Aboriginal artists of the Central Australian Desert movement.
