About Dulcie Long Pula
Dulcie Long Pula is originally from Utopia, a community that has amazed the art world since Aboriginal people put paint on canvas. Daughter of the famous Jeannie Petyarre (Pitjara), Dulcie follows the strong artistic tradition that her family and extended family started.
Her art has been showcased in exhibitions in Sydney, NSW.
Design Inspiration
Dulcie’s family has traditionally incorporated the ‘Pencil Yam’ and ‘Bush Medicine Leaves’ in their paintings and you will see this influence in her artistic designs. Further to this, you will note Dulcie uses a colourful palette and has developed a more minimalistic style. It is a collection of dots marking out sandhills, bush scrub, river flood plains, and sometimes waterholes and ceremonial sites. Although Dulcie’s colour palette is restrained, she pays exceptional attention to details, complex designs and underlying meanings.
